Warming shelters open Friday night

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – It was a very cold start to Friday with temperatures in the 20s and 30s, but we’ll warm into the 40s for most areas and near 50 along the beaches.

Some areas of the tri-county briefly saw a mix of winter weather including sleet, freezing rain, and some slow flurries; however, that wintry mix will quickly turn over to cold rain for the remainder of the day.

Overnight and morning temperatures Friday into Saturday will be in the upper 30s and even lower Saturday into Sunday morning. Temps during the say will be in the mid-to-upper 40s and low 50s.

Warming centers will be open across the Lowcountry to provide a warm place to sleep for those without adequate heat, or who may be experiencing homelessness.
