Man, 31, charged with sexual exploitation of a minor

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A man is facing multiple charges connected to the sexual exploitation of a minor.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and members of the South Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force received a cyber tip regarding more than 30 images and/or videos that were uploaded to a Verizon Cloud account that depicted children in various states of nudity or engaging in sexual activity.

Children in the images appeared to be aged 6-8 in several examples provided in affidavits.

A search warrant was obtained and conducted on the account. Dwayne Jabree Sumter, 31, was identified as the suspect who downloaded the images/videos, according to the sheriff’s office.

He was arrested by US Marshals on Monday on 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, second degree. He was denied bond during a Tuesday morning hearing.
