Georgetown County deputies searching for man who escaped arrest

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Georgetown County deputies are actively searching for a man wanted on a domestic violence charge Monday evening.

The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office issued a manhunt for 49-year-old William Dempsey Cooper of Watford Place.

Cooper escaped custody while deputies were in the process of arresting him Monday. Authorities attempted to use a K9 to track him but were unsuccessful.

Drones have been used to aid in the search.

Cooper is five feet eight inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds. He was last wearing a gray sweatshirt with light-colored jeans and handcuffs.
