Elderly man dies after being struck by train in Goose Creek

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A 72-year-old man died Wednesday after being struck by a train, according to the coroner’s office.

Jesse Wallace of North Charleston died from the incident around 1:30 a.m. near NAD Road and Snake Road in Goose Creek, Berkeley County Coroner Darnell Hartwell said. Wallace was on the tracks when he was hit.

Numerous first response agencies arrived at the scene when the incident occurred, including Berkeley County EMS, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, the North Charleston Police Department, CSX Police, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Highway Patrol is the lead law enforcement agency investigating the incident.
