Berkeley County deputies share results of NYE traffic enforcement
BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD)—Lowcountry law enforcement was out in full force over the New Year’s holiday, and one agency has released the results from its New Year’s Eve traffic operation.
From Dec. 29 to Jan. 1, Berkeley County deputies were patrolling the county in an effort to ensure safe driving and deter reckless driving habits, the sheriff’s office said.
Eight individuals were arrested as a result of the operation, 151 citations were issued, and 151 warnings were given.
Of the arrests, one person was arrested for a DUI, one for a hit-and-run charge, one for a weapon offense, one narcotic-related, one fugitive from justice, one for possession of a stolen vehicle, one for a habitual traffic offender, and one for failure to stop for blue lights.

Driving under Suspension: 13, Speeding: 79, Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle: 2, Expired Tag: 9, No Driver’s License: 16, Improper Display of Vehicle Tag: 1, Seatbelt Violation: 11, Operating Unregistered Motor Vehicle: 2, No Proof of Insurance: 1, Careless Driving: 1, Operating Unsafe Motor Vehicle: 3, Window tint violation: 2, Mover Over Law violation: 1, Violation Of Beginners Permit: 1, Reckless Driving: 1, Fail to Yield Right-of-way: 2, Fail to return suspended tag (for insurance violation): 3, Child Restraint Violation: 2, Fail to Dim: 3
