Warming centers opening this week during cold snap
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — Temperatures are expected to drop below average for this time of year and many warming centers are opening their doors to accommodate those in need.
St. Jude’s Church in Walterboro
St. Jude’s Church will open its warming center on January 2, 3, and 4th. They are located at 907 Wichman Street. Men, women, and families are welcome. However, they are not accepting pets.
Transportation will not be provided.
Seacoast Church Summerville Warming Center
Seacoast Church will open its warming center on January 2, 3, and 4th. They are located at 301 E. 5th N St. Men, women, and families are welcome, but currently do not accommodate for pets.
A cot with linens and pillows will be provided. As well as a warm dinner, hot shower, and a takeaway breakfast.
Seacoast warming center will be open from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Holy City Missions Warming Shelter
Holy City Missions Winter Warming Shelter at Aldersgate will open on Thursday. They are located at 1444 Remount Road in North Charleston. Pets are not permitted.
A hot meal, breakfast, a bag lunch, a hot shower, warm clothes, and toiletries will be provided. The shelter accommodates 75 people and is first-come, first-served.
Registration is between 7 and 9 p.m. with the shelter closing the following morning at 7 a.m.
For a connecting ride to the shelter, board a CARTA bus route 13 and request the Aldersgate Winter Warming Center.
