Person rescued after falling into Hanahan river

HANAHAN, S.C. (WCBD) – A person was rescued Monday after falling into a river in Hanahan, officials said.

The Hanahan Fire Department responded to a location on Yeamans Hall Road for a person in the water. Fire crews and Hanahan police officers discovered a person who had fallen into Goose Creek after possibly jumping from a nearby train bridge.

Officials said the person was pulled from the water and taken to the boat ramp at Yeamans Hall County Club where they were treated by paramedics and then taken to an area hospital.

“Due to the quick thinking and cooperation of all responding agencies and the citizens who risked their own well-being and safety, the individual in the water was rescued and transported for medical assistance,” the Hanahan Police Department said.

Hanahan Police said the person spent hours in the cold water.
