Dorchester County deputies to increase saturation, checkpoints for New Year’s Eve
DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Law enforcement in Dorchester County is increasing its presence starting today to crack down on impaired driving into the new year.
The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit and several other local agencies will conduct DUI traffic checkpoints and saturations from Monday until Wednesday.
Beginning New Year’s Eve and into New Year’s Day, deputies will be set up for checkpoints at the intersection of Highway 15 and Highway 78 in Saint George and the 100 block of N. Main Street in Summerville.
Drivers can expect deputies to check for any visual violations, a valid driver’s license, impairment, and proper child restraints (if applicable).
If drinking, motorists are encouraged to use a rideshare service or find a designated driver.
