Timothy Grainger, known as ‘Timbo the Peanut Man,’ has died
DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Timothy Grainger, widely known to many as “Timbo the Peanut Man,” has died. He was 59.
Details about Grainger’s death have not been made public; however, those who knew him said he died while at his Dorchester County home on Friday.
Dorchester County Coroner Paul Brouthers confirmed Grainger’s passing to News 2 on Sunday morning.
Grainger had been receiving dialysis treatments several days a week after having lost both kidneys in a life-changing diagnosis years ago.
“Timbo” sold boiled peanuts from his once-iconic orange and peanut-shaped trailer along Highway 61 in the West Ashley community for more than 30 years. He relocated a short distance earlier this year with a larger, upgraded trailer following what he said was a dispute with the former property’s landlord.
Awaiting a kidney transplant, Grainger continued serving up his popular boiled peanuts in West Ashley on some days.
Details about Grainger’s passing have not been made public. News 2 has reached out to law enforcement for additional information.
