At least 15 people injured after Florida train hits fire truck

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — Three firefighters and 12 Brightline train passengers were injured Saturday morning following a collision between a Delray Beach Fire Rescue truck and a train in Florida.

The crash happened around 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, in Delray Beach, according to the fire department.

One of the fire department’s ladder trucks was crossing the intersection when it was reportedly struck by a Brightline train.

Three firefighters were taken to a local hospital, where officials said they were listed in stable condition. First responders also took 12 passengers from the train to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

As of Saturday afternoon, authorities said the cause of the collision was still under investigation.

The Delray Beach Police Department, officials from Brightline and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are leading the investigation.

The intersection was temporarily shut down while investigators examined the scene. No other information was immediately available.
