Drive-by shooting in Colleton County leaves 2 injured, deputies say
RUFFIN, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities are investigating a Saturday night drive-by shooting that left two people injured.
The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office 911 Center received multiple calls regarding a drive-by shooting on Bells Highway just before 10 p.m.
Callers told law enforcement that two victims with gunshot wounds were being taken to Colleton Medical Center in personal vehicles.
One of the victims, an 18-year-old, received critical injuries while an adult victim had minor injuries.
“Witnesses at a private party, at what appears to be the target residence, reported that the gunshots originated from a small black sedan that was stopped on Bells Highway,” the sheriff’s office said.
Authorities added that evidence from the scene showed individuals attending the party may have returned fire. They said the suspect vehicle left in an unknown direction, and that it was unclear whether the vehicle was hit by gunfire.
Anyone who lives within the 9000 block of Bells Highway is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s office if they have security cameras or information that could help in the investigation.
