“The Grinch” captured by South Carolina police

PICKENS, S.C. (WCBD) – A creature attempting to steal Christmas was captured by a South Carolina law enforcement agency.

Video footage released by the Pickens Police Department shows the moment officers arrested “The Grinch” after he was caught attempting to steal a Christmas tree and presents from a home.

The dramatized burglary happened on December 11. “Pickens Police received a call about a burglary in progress.  Many of these incidents have been occurring around town involving a suspect described as being furry and green, wearing a Santa hat and jacket,” the department said.

Body cameras from the officers show them entering the home and spotting the Grinch near a Christmas tree in the living room, attempting to steal the gifts. He then led officers in a brief pursuit before he was tasered and taken into custody.

“The suspect was identified as The Grinch and is linked to several burglaries around town where presents and Christmas trees were stolen along with onions from the kitchen,” police said.

The Grinch was charged with first-degree stealing Christmas and third-degree onion breath.
