1 injured in shipping container explosion near St. George home

ST. GEORGE, S.C. (WCBD) – One person was injured following an explosion near a Dorchester County home.

Dorchester County Fire & Rescue responded to an address off Deep Woods Road and found a debris field from a shipping container that had some sort of explosion.

Fire Chief Tres Atkinson said an initial investigation determined it to be an accident from a griddle inside of the container.

He said one person was injured and taken to the Medical University of South Carolina’s burn center for treatment.
