Deadly bowling alley shooting has Walterboro businesses concerned
WALTERBORO, S.C. (WCBD) – A shooting that left a man dead and two others injured has some Walterboro business owners concerned about safety.
The incident Friday night began as an altercation at Lowcountry Lanes, a bowling alley on Wichman Street, and ended with shots fired.
Pamela Kellogg teaches glass art classes and hosts paint parties at her nearby business. “I just opened up on August 1 of this year. “It has started to hop, business is really picking up,” she said.
As her business grows, Kellogg said hearing about a shooting not far from the main shopping street is concerning. “It’s concerning because I’m here a lot with paint parties, so it’s a little unnerving,” she said.
Colleton County Fire Rescue said three adult men were found at the scene with gunshot wounds on Friday around 11 p.m. One victim was taken to Colleton Medical Center where he later died; a second was airlifted to Trident Medical Center with critical injuries; a third suffered a gunshot wound to the arm.
Kellogg said crimes like this seem to be happening everywhere more frequently.
“It’s everywhere. I’m actually from Syracuse, New York. It comes all the way down the East Coast. It’s everywhere. I guess it’s going to be on my mind now probably for a long time,” she said.
The Walterboro Police Department has not said whether any arrests were made; however, they are investigating the incident.
