You can help honor the Lowcountry’s remarkable women

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – News 2 is once again honoring Remarkable Women in our community through an annual campaign with our sister stations across the country.

People are encouraged to nominate a woman who leads, inspires, and paves the way for other women day in and day out through an online submission. A panel of judges will review the nominees and narrow them down to four finalists, and a local winner will be selected in the spring.

Over the last several years, News 2 has enjoyed receiving community nominations of incredible women who are making a difference every day. We have profiled a diverse group of ladies from scientists, doctors, educators, social justice advocates, and spiritual leaders.

How it works: You just take a few minutes to fill out an online questionnaire and submit a brief essay about the woman you are nominating. Then, a diverse panel of judges at News 2 will select the finalists who will be highlighted in March of next year.

The local winner will be announced in April, and she’ll receive a $1,000 donation to the nonprofit of her choice and a paid trip to Hollywood to celebrate with remarkable women from across the United States.

Dr. Janie Wilson was named the Lowcountry’s most remarkable woman in 2024. She previously shared details about her experience and trip to Los Angeles and how she formed a bond with other strong women across multiple industries and backgrounds. They were even surprised with a trip to the Jennifer Hudson Show!

“We created a sisterhood- a beautiful sisterhood across the nation,” she said. I have met women who are doing remarkable things, remarkable things.”

She added, “It created for me an area of encouragement, job well done, thank you for doing what you are doing, and it wasn’t for rest, but it was definitely for rejuvenation and encouragement, and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting these young women that will now be part of my life I hope for the rest of my life.”

You are encouraged to get involved by clicking here to submit your nomination today. The nomination window is open until December 20.
