Coroner identifies bicyclist killed in Halloween night collision

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A bicyclist killed on Halloween night in Hollywood has been identified by the Charleston County Coroner’s Office.

66-year-old Gregg Edwards died on the scene from blunt force injuries after being hit by a motor vehicle, Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal said.

Charleston County deputies responded to New Road and Chad Lane just after 7 p.m. for reports of a collision.

The sheriff’s office explained that a vehicle was traveling east on New Rd when it hit an unilluminated bicyclist also traveling east. The bicyclist landed in a nearby ditch.

Witnesses attempted life-saving measures on Edwards immediately after the collision while authorities were en route.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this collision.
