Sullivan’s Island police looking for man who fled traffic stop

SULLIVAN’S ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities on Sullivan’s Island are searching for a person who ran from a Monday morning traffic stop.

The Sullivan’s Island Police Department said the man crashed his vehicle on Brownell Avenue and then ran from the scene.

“There is currently a heavy police presence on the island as officers continue to search for the driver,” the department said. They believe he went east from the crash toward Isle of Palms.

Police said they know the man’s identity and have nothing to suggest the individual is armed or a threat to the community; however, if you see anything suspicious, you are asked to call 911.

The driver is described as a white male with dark brown or black hair, 6-foot, wearing a blue jogging suit.
