Man critically injured in shooting at Walterboro motel

COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities are investigating a weekend shooting in Walterboro that left a man critically injured.

It happened around 10 a.m. Sunday at the Rodeway Inn off Ladson Street.

Colleton County Fire Rescue said the male victim ran to a nearby fireworks store to get help, and an attendant at the shop called 911.

Officers with the Walterboro Police Department were responding to another call when they heard the gunshots and arrived within minutes.

The man was initially treated in the parking lot of the fireworks store and was eventually airlifted to the trauma center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston for further treatment.

It’s not clear if any arrests were made. The Walterboro Police Department is investigating.
