Detectives arrest 17-year-old for fatal hit and run on Ladson Road

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – North Charleston officers have arrested a minor in connection to a deadly hit and run on Ladson Road, the agency said Tuesday.

On Oct. 16, police responded to the Sphinx gas station on Ladson Road and Palmetto Commerce Parkway after receiving a report of a body in the roadway, an incident report states.

The bicyclist, identified as 35-year-old Robert W. Barrs, was pronounced dead on the scene by the Charleston County Coroner’s Office.

The 17-year-old arrested for the incident is charged with leaving the scene of an accident with death, said Harve Jacobs, spokesperson for North Charleston PD.

An investigation into the hit-and-run is ongoing.
