735,000 turn out for first week of early voting in South Carolina

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – Nearly three-quarters of a million South Carolina voters have already cast their ballots in the 2024 general election.

In six days of early voting, more than 735,400 votes have been cast statewide.

Friday saw the highest number of votes, with more than 134,400 cast in a single day. That’s the most of any day since early voting was first implemented in 2022.

Around 90,000 votes were cast on Saturday.

“We are excited to witness such a strong turnout of early voters making their voices heard,” said Howie Knapp, executive director of the South Carolina Election Commission. “We expect continued record-breaking participation as we enter the second week of early voting.”

Early voting in 2024 has already far surpassed the total number of early votes cast in the 2022 general election which saw around 561,600 early voters.

In-person early voting will continue through Saturday, November 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at various locations around the state.
