MUSC to bring medical facility to Clements Ferry Road area

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – As more people move to the Lowcountry, so does the need for more medical care, specifically in the Clements Ferry Road area.

The Medical University of South Carolina will construct a new medical facility on 10 acres off Clements Ferry Road, which is scheduled to break ground next week.

It will include a four-story, 80,000-square-foot facility and brings a wide range of medical services to the surrounding communities. The Clements Ferry Pavilion will include adult and pediatric primary care, gastroenterology, heart and vascular care, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, and a multispecialty clinic.

“We are particularly excited about this project … because there’s significant growth, obviously in Charleston, but across the state. In this particular ZIP Code, we anticipate 14% growth and 8% growth in the overall community served by this new facility that we’re building on Clements Ferry,” said Dr. Eugene Hong, MUSC Health’s Chief Physician Executive.

MUSC currently has about 85,000 appointments each year being set by people who live in the general area where this facility is being built.

The new facility is expected to open in late 2025.
