Redeveloped navy storehouse to open as arts and event venue

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD)—A former navy storehouse in Navy Yard Charleston is reopening this month as a venue, and two events are lined up on its fall schedule.

Building 64 will host a Halloween Nightmare at the Navy, an interactive experience in which guests will explore the ‘haunted’ warehouse while engaging in a laser tag battle with aliens.

On Nov. 16, the space will host Kulture Klash, an arts festival that will display visual arts, music, dance, and interactive installations by community artists.

The 38,000-square-foot building will be available for rental events and productions. Owner and reggae artist David “Big Hair” Brisacher will also design and curate events for Building 64.

Architectural aspects include a pitched-monitor roof, vaulted ceilings, and a clerestory.
