1 dead, 1 in custody after shooting at Moncks Corner apartment complex
MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCBD) – One man is dead and another is in custody after a shooting at a Moncks Corner apartment complex, police say.
Moncks Corner Police Chief Steve Young said officers responded to the Plantation Apartments around 12:20 p.m. after receiving a call that multiple shots were fired and someone was lying on the ground.
A victim was found in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Officers attempted life-saving measures; however, the man died at the scene.
Jovial Price, 17, was arrested and charged with homicide and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. He is being charged as an adult and awaits a bond hearing at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center.
“Our hearts go out to the family of the victim whose loved one was killed. I am also grateful for the diligent work of our officers and detectives, who quickly developed a suspect and made an
arrest. There is no room for individuals to take the life of another person, and we will pursue all leads until captured, no matter how long that takes,” said Chief Young.
Moncks Corner Police Department is investigating.
