Woman facing additional charges in deadly North Charleston crash

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A woman arrested last week in a deadly crash on Patriot Boulevard is facing additional charges.

The North Charleston Police Department said its traffic unit filed two charges of felony DUI against 29-year-old Ashner Nelson.

Police said the August 8 crash involved three vehicles on Patriot Blvd. at Club Course. Two people died at the scene; Nelson was found in critical condition.

Nelson had been in the hospital since that crash and was released on September 13. She has since been held at the Dorchester County jail.

A bond hearing for the new charges is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at the North Charleston Municipal Court.
