You can get a better understanding of how the police force operates through Summerville PD’s citizen police academy
SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – Are you interested in getting a better understanding of how a local police department operates?
The Summerville Police Department is hosting a Citizen’s Police Academy later this month to give residents an inside look at how the police force operates and their role in keeping neighborhoods safe.
Department instructors and employees with specific or specialized knowledge and experience will lead the classes with video and audio presentations, and practical “hands-on” exercises expected.
Participants will use information learned to “gain a new and hopefully positive insight into the complex challenges of today’s law enforcement personnel,” the agency said.
Summerville residents aged 18 and older interested in learning about the day-to-day activities of protecting and serving the community are invited to attend the series.
The sessions begin on Monday, September 30, and will mostly be on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. through Tuesday, November 26. There will be some optional Saturday classes offered for hands-on training.
Classes will primarily be held in the Summerville Police Annex Training Room.
Space is limited. Those interested should contact Sgt. Dylan Reynolds by calling 843-285-7020 or emailing [email protected].
