Police hope to ID person in downtown assault investigation

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Police are investigating a downtown Charleston assault. They need the public’s help identifying a person involved.

The Charleston Police Department said the assault happened on Calhoun Street during the late hours of August 24.

Officials say the victim was repeatedly punched in the face inside a restaurant around 11:30 p.m.

A photograph of an individual believed to be involved was shared by the police department. They ask that anyone who has information related to the incident contact them by calling 843-720-3924 and ask to speak with Investigator Akins.
