South Carolina Supreme Court holding case hearings on Citadel campus
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The highest court in South Carolina will hear four oral arguments next week on The Citadel’s campus in downtown Charleston, and the public is invited to attend.
South Carolina’s Supreme Court justices will hear arguments from two separate cases each day on Sept. 10 and Sept. 11 in an effort to make the judicial system more accessible to those interested.
Citadel officials said the location change is part of a program to promote engagement between the court and communities across the state.
The hearings will take place in the Capers Hall auditorium and are free.
Also, on Sept. 10, visitors from the Charleston School of Law, Joseph Rice School of Law, South Carolina Legal Services, and Charleston Legal Access will provide free legal services for the public who otherwise may not be able to afford them.
The lawyers will be at the Holliday Alumni Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and can discuss topics such as wills, powers of attorney, expungements, and more. To register, contact Megan Seiner at [email protected] or 803-777-3047.
