Body found in retaining pond after vehicle submersion; North Charleston Police investigating
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A routine business check by the North Charleston Police Department early Sunday morning led to the discovery of a body in a retaining pond on Faber Place Drive.
Around 1:30 a.m., officers were patrolling the area when they noticed a vehicle submerged in a retaining pond behind a building. As they approached, they observed a body floating in the water. The officers immediately checked for signs of life but found none.
With assistance from the North Charleston Fire Department (NCFD), officers entered the pond to search the vehicle for any additional occupants. No one else was found inside.
According to police, initial findings indicate that the vehicle struck a curb before ending up in the water.
The North Charleston Police Department’s Traffic Unit, along with the Charleston County Coroner’s Office, is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
