Pedestrian killed in fatal hit-and-run near Ladson
BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A hit-and-run collision occurred Friday night in Berkeley County, claiming the life of a pedestrian.
According to Lance Corporal Lena Butler with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 8:50 p.m. on Secondary Highway 62, near the Moses Extension, approximately half a mile east of Ladson.
The driver of the vehicle, who remains unidentified, was traveling eastbound on College Park Road when they struck the pedestrian. The vehicle fled the scene immediately following the collision.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived and transported the injured pedestrian to a nearby hospital. The pedestrian succumbed to their injuries after arrival.
The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the name of the deceased.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is actively investigating the incident and urges anyone with information about the driver or vehicle involved to come forward.
