Attendees evacuated from Stratford vs Summerville High football game
GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCBD) — Fans attending the Friday night Stratford High School vs Summerville High School football game were told to evacuate, Goose Creek Police confirmed.
Officials ended the game at halftime.
Katie Tanner with Berkeley County School District said the evacuation came after initial reports of shots fired stemming from a conversation in the crowd. Goose Creek Police said they also received a 911 call saying multiple shots had been fired.
The stadium was evacuated out of an abundance of caution.
Tanner said after an initial investigation; law enforcement has found no witnesses who saw or heard the shots and no evidence to substantiate the claim. Goose Creek Police confirmed that no shots were fired at Stratford High School.
The game was hosted at Stratford High’s football field in Goose Creek.
Tonight’s game was the first of the 2024 football season for both teams. The game ended 28-14 in the second quarter with Summerville leading.
News 2 is currently working to learn more about the situation. Goose Creek Police Chief LJ Roscoe said information will be provided when available.
No injuries were reported from this situation.
