Sunny start, stormy finish: weather forecast for Sunday
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Sunday’s weather forecast brings a mix of sunshine and potentially severe weather, with residents advised to stay alert for rip current risks and stronger storms later in the day.
The day will start sunny, but by the afternoon, conditions will shift as showers and thunderstorms develop. Highs are expected to reach the upper 80s to mid-90s, but the concern lies in the potential for severe weather as the day progresses.
Meteorologist Grace Lowe said, “Showers and thunderstorms will reach us as we head into the late afternoon to evening hours, and some of those could pack a punch.”
These storms may bring heavy rain and gusty winds, raising concerns for areas that are still dealing with saturated ground from Tropical Storm Debby.
Storm Team 2 predicts that the first round of showers and storms will begin around 2-3 p.m., with a second wave expected to hit around 10 p.m. Sunday. The combination of heavy rain and already saturated ground could lead to flooding, especially in low-lying areas.
Residents are urged to stay informed and take precautions, especially in areas prone to flooding.
