Crews save person trapped in submerged vehicle from flooded ditch
DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — Crews in Dorchester County responded to at least two water-related emergencies Wednesday, one of which involved a person trapped in a submerged vehicle.
Dorchester County Fire-Rescue responded to a single-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon. Once there, they found a car partially submerged in a flooded ditch.
After getting help from a high-water vehicle, a rescue sled, and two rescue swimmers, the person trapped inside the vehicle was freed and taken to a local hospital by Dorchester County emergency services.
Authorities said immediately after the rescue, they were dispatched to another water-related rescue in the area of Parkers Ferry Road.
South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the initial incident.
