Notice discolored tap water? Here’s why:
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Have you noticed a slight discoloration with your tap water this week?
On Tuesday morning, Charleston Water System shared a message on its social media pages that some of its customers may see discolored water this week.
They say not to worry, though- the water is safe to use and drink.
Charleston Water said the cause is elevated iron and manganese released from the ground, which arrived at its Bushy Park Reservoir site following heavy rains from Tropical Storm Debby last week.
While the utility provider said treatment has been adjusted to account for the elevated mineral levels, it cannot eliminate the color.
They say it will pass with time.
