Man to be extradited accused of Williamsburg County murder, police say

GREELEYVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – Police in a rural South Carolina town announced they have accused a suspect of a 2023 murder.

The Greeleyville Police Department will charge Rome Ali Bey Jr. for the murder of 62-year-old Dan Brock.

Brock was found dead from a single gunshot wound to the head on Oct. 7, 2023, police said.

Investigators used multiple possible suspect target packages, vehicle recognition for LPR hits, and surveillance footage to determine Bey Jr. as the suspect. Bey Jr. is set to be extradited from another state and returned to South Carolina to face the charges.

“Our Task Force worked tirelessly to bring justice to Dan Brock and their family,” said Chief Whitfield of the Greeleyville Police Department. “We hope this brings some closure to the victim’s loved ones.”

An investigation into the crime is still active. Anyone with information is asked to contact Chief Whitfield at 843-426-2114.

The State Law Enforcement Division, Clarendon and Williamsburg county sheriff offices, and Manning and Saint Stephen police departments assisted with this case.
