Single-vehicle crash near Andrews killed 1, injured another

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – One person is dead following a Sunday morning crash in Georgetown County.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle crash on Gapway Road, close to Insteel Drive, around 11:50 a.m. involving a 2002 Chevrolet SUV, which veered off the roadway and overturned.

According to Master Trooper Gary Miller, the SUV initially traveled off the right side of the road, lost control, and then careened across to the left side where it struck a ditch and overturned. 

The driver and a passenger were taken to a nearby hospital. The right front passenger died from their injuries.

As of now, the Georgetown County Coroner’s Office has not released the name of the deceased.

The investigation is ongoing by SCHP.
