Crane, tangled in fishing line, rescued from tree in Wando area

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Wando community fire crews rescued a crane tangled in a fishing line and found hanging from a tree.

The Cainhoy Fire Department said it received a call for assistance around 9 a.m. Thursday regarding a possibly injured bird at the Sweetwater Apartment complex.

Firefighters and animal control officers said they discovered the crane had become tangled in fishing line and was hanging from a tree limb. They worked together to free the bird without causing any further injury.

Once free, the bird was alive and taken to the Carolina Wildlife Rehab Center for treatment.
