Man arrested in Greenville Co. in connection to New York Homicide

GREENVILLE CO., S.C. (WSPA) – A man was arrested in Greenville County on Saturday, for connection with the homicide that took place on July 1, on West Street in the Village of Haverstraw.

18-year-old Yandie Martinez was taken into custody at 1:20 p.m., in Piedmont, in a collaborative effort with members of the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Special Investigations Team, FBI-Westchester Safe Streets task force, and the FBI-Columbia Division.

According to the Haverstraw Police Department, officers responded to a call on the report of shots fired on Monday July 1, 2024, to the area of Fairmount Avenue and West Street.

When officers arrived, units observed a vehicle crashed into a parked car opposite 9 Fairmount Avenue and the driver next to the vehicle on the ground,

According to officers, the victim had multiple gunshot wounds to the torso area.

The victim, Christian Alvarado, was transport to Nyack Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
