1 dead, 2 injured in head-on crash in Berkeley County

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A head-on collision killed one and injured two people on Friday night.

Master Trooper Brandon Bolt said a 2011 Toyota SUV was traveling west on Highway 52, as a 2008 Toyota pickup truck was traveling east when they collided head-on.

The crash occurred around 5:10 p.m. about a mile outside of Bonneau.

The drivers of both vehicles were injured in the crash and taken to a nearby hospital.

The SUV passenger did not survive the crash.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office (BCCO) has identified the passenger as Tonya Frey, a 28-year-old Summerville woman.

South Carolina Highway Patrol and BCCO are investigating.
