‘Impactful’ round of storms with flood risks Friday

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Friday is looking to be similar to Thursday in terms of showers with significant rainfall.

Storm Team 2 says showers and storms are expected to pick up in the afternoon hours.

“Just like yesterday, these are going to be very noisy, lots of thunder, lots of lightning, very very heavy rain, some gusty wind as well,” said Meteorologist Josh Marthers.

Marthers adds the greatest risk of heavy rainfall is along the 17A corridor. Stretching from Summerville, Goose Creek, Moncks Corner, and into Georgetown County.

“Again, some won’t see anything, but I do think the vast majority of us will get some good rain out of this. Maybe a couple of inches of rain in many cases,” said Marthers.

Storm Team 2 says there is an elevated risk of flooding across the Charleston metro area.

Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 80s to near 90s.
