Apartment fire in Summerville possibly caused by lightning strike

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – A lightning strike may have caused a Saturday afternoon apartment fire in the Summerville area.

Summerville Fire Rescue responded to the Waters Edge Apartments on Dorchester Road.

According to authorities, it appears that a lightning strike caused a fire at the complex.

Captain Chris Hirsch of the Summerville Police Department said everyone has been evacuated. 

Summerville Fire Rescue is on the scene and has the fire under control.
