Summerville man arrested after stabbing a man to death

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred July 14 in Ladson.

Deputies arrested Dwayne Bell, 38, of Summerville on July 14. Bell is charged with murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and burglary, authorities state.

Deputies responded around 3:30 a.m. on July 14 to the 3300 block of Persian Lane off Von Ohsen Road where an individual waved them down stating someone had been stabbed.

The sheriff’s office says upon entry into the residence, deputies observed an unresponsive male on the floor of the kitchen. Deputies attempted life-saving measures but the male was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

The Charleston County Coroner identified the male as Jeremy Mack, 37, of Summerville.

The North Charleston Police Department stopped a vehicle late that evening that matched the description of the suspect. The department says they initiated a traffic stop and called Charleston County deputies to respond.

Bell was identified as the driver of the vehicle. Authorities say he was taken into custody without incident and is being held at the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center.

The incident is being investigated as a homicide by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and the Forensic Services Unit.

Deputies say there is no known danger to the community. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 843-202-1700.
