Popular Charleston barbecue restaurant is temporarily closed. Here’s why:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A popular barbecue restaurant in Charleston has temporarily closed and canceled catering orders through mid-June.

Lewis Barbecue said on its website and social media pages that it will be closed for maintenance until further notice. They said the decision to close was to “ensure that we continue to provide you with the highest quality dining experience and service.”

Lewis, located on North Nassau Street, also canceled all catering orders through June 23. Staff will address individual orders.

“In the meantime, we invite you to head over to our pals at Rancho Lewis who have all your Texas cravings covered! We look forward to welcoming you back soon,” the restaurant said.

The restaurant did not specify what maintenance issues prompted the closure.
