Summerville man arrested after pursuit, pointing firearm at deputy

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — Deputies in Berkeley County arrested a man after a pursuit that began in Summerville and ended in Moncks Corner on May 29.

Kylen Frantrell Simmons was booked into the Hill Finklea Detention Center on Tuesday. Simmons is charged with failure to stop for blue lights, possession of marijuana, and pointing and presenting a firearm.

A patrol deputy noticed a vehicle would not stay in its lane and was swerving across the road near North Main Street and College Park Road, so the deputy initiated a traffic stop.

The driver, identified as Simmons, did not stop, and a pursuit ensued, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

During the pursuit, Simmons lost control of his vehicle and wrecked at South Live Oak Drive and Mountain Pine Road in Moncks Corner. He then fled on foot but was captured by deputies shortly after.

When he was captured, Simmons allegedly waved a firearm at a deputy.
