1 dead in head-on collision in Berkeley County

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – One person is dead following a head-on collision in Berkeley County.

South Carolina Highway Patrol says the collision occurred between two vehicles on North Highway 52 near Caprene Lane approximately 1 mile outside of St. Stephen.

Troopers say around 1:55 a.m. a 2020 Hyundai SUV was traveling east on North Highway 52 when a 2014 Dodge SUV traveling west veered left of the center and struck the Hyundai head-on.

There were two occupants in the Hyundai SUV, the driver was pronounced deceased and the passenger was not injured.

The driver of the Dodge SUV was not injured.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the name of the victim.
