Saturday storms could mean lightning, heavy downpours, large hail, and some wind damage

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Severe storms are expected to impact portions of the Lowcountry on Saturday, according to Storm Team 2.

The first half of the day will be mainly dry with only isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms; however, by afternoon, a line or cluster of thunderstorms will likely impact the area, according to Meteorologist Josh Marthers.

Lightning, heavy downpours, and a risk of wind damage and large hail with stronger storms are not out of the question.

“This line should be off the coast by early evening,” said Marthers.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected again Sunday with a continued risk of isolated severe thunderstorms.
