Coroner identifies man killed in shooting at Summerville apartment complex

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – A man found dead following a Friday night shooting in Summerville has been identified.

Officers with the Summerville Police Department responded to a reported shooting at the Villas of Summerville apartment complex shortly before 10:00 p.m.

Jordan E. Avery, 21, was found shot to death inside a vehicle at the complex. The shooting was deemed a homicide.

The Dorchester County Coroner’s Office said Avery underwent an autopsy at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) on Monday morning.

Officials say the shooting remains under investigation.
