Severe thunderstorm watch issued in Georgetown Williamsburg counties

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Forecasters are tracking the possibility of severe storms in Georgetown and Williamsburg counties on Friday afternoon.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch effective for the two counties until 9:00 p.m.

While the day has been mostly cloudy, Storm Team 2 said a few showers and thunderstorms shouldn’t be ruled out on Friday.

Areas within the News 2 viewing area could see a few scattered thunderstorms through the evening before clearing overnight. “There is a slight risk of a storm or two becoming severe with wind damage and large hail possible,” said Storm Team 2.
