Charleston Southern holds graduation ceremony for class of 2024

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD)- It’s graduation weekend for several of the Lowcountry’s colleges.

Charleston Southern held their commencement Saturday morning on Buccaneer Field.

Nearly 600 students graduated from CSU this weekend.

“We’re just really going to miss them when they’re gone,” CSU student, Austyn Koppe said.

Koppe and her friends run track at CSU and came to support their teammates who walked across the stage today.

“We wanted to I think just send them out in a way that made them feel special because obviously the past 3 years we’ve been here they’ve been really impactful on us,” CSU student, Chloe Greene said.

Charleston Southern had another graduation ceremony on Friday for masters and doctoral graduates.

It’s the first time in 3 years the ceremony has been held on campus.

Years prior the ceremony was at the North Charleston Collesium.

For current students, it’s also a time to look ahead to when it’s their turn.

“It definitely is a lot to process, thinking about how next year I’m going to be a senior and I’m going to be in their place and I’m going to have to figure out what I’m going to do with my life and it kind of feels like before I came to college trying to decide where I want to go,” Greene said.

“I just want to wish them well. Let them know that god always has their back. The story is already written so they don’t need to worry about the unknown when he’s all-knowing,” Koppe said.
