North Charleston firefighter vehicles vandalized

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities are investigating after multiple vehicles belonging to North Charleston firefighters were broken into and vandalized overnight Tuesday.

The incident happened at North Charleston Fire Department Station #2 on Carner Avenue.

According to a Facebook post by North Charleston Professional Firefighters – International Association of Firefighters, personal belongings were taken, and firefighters were left with hundreds of dollars in damage.

“We stand behind our Firefighters 100% and will do everything we can to make this right financially, and to help hold accountable those responsible in whatever way we can,” the page said.

Photos shared by the group show several smashed and broken windows on the vehicles and vehicle doors left open.

“Always remove valuable items from your vehicle and remain situationally aware of your surroundings. We are today and everyday Proud to serve the citizens of North Charleston,” the group added.

News 2 has requested additional information from the North Charleston Police Department and asked for comment from the North Charleston Fire Department.
