Saturday fire damages Mount Pleasant Seafood

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – A seafood market on Shem Creek was damaged in a Saturday evening fire.

Multiple fire crews responded to Mount Pleasant Seafood shortly before 8:00 p.m. 

Owners of the seafood market told News 2 it appears the fire started in the oyster cooler. They said there is damage to the business.

The main store area and upstairs only have smoke damage.  

The fire was brought under control around 8:30 p.m.; however, Mount Pleasant fire crews remained on scene performing overhaul and ensuring fire was fully out.

Mount Pleasant Seafood has been operating on Shem Creek for more than 75 years.
